Canal Art workshops with Nadia Tahari 13th October 2026

£140.00

Master the art of the traditional folk art of the waterways focusing on beautiful rose painting.
You will learn to paint iconic pictures on mugs or pots.

Such a fun day with hands-on experience into English canal heritage. Learn specific brush stokes (C-strokes for roses) and how to layout a pattern, mix the enamel paint texture, load brushes and layer the paint. You will then paint the classic roses and leave with your very own piece of canal art.

As with all our workshops, no prior experience is necessary, simply the desire to escape for the day and create something beautiful.

All materials provided and homemade lunch and tea included

About Nadia:
‘Nadia is an artist based in West Yorkshire, where she works across a range of traditional crafts. Painting has been part of her life for as long as she can remember, and a few years ago she discovered the beautiful tradition of sign writing, which led her to the art of canal roses.
She is drawn to folk art and traditional crafts because they offer us a tangible connection to our past. There’s something profound about learning and practicing these historic techniques—when we create objects with our own hands using methods passed down through generations, we forge a deeper connection not only to those who came before us, but to ourselves as makers.
Nadia is excited to share the art of canal rose painting with her students, hoping they’ll find the same sense of joy in this traditional craft that she has discovered.‘
