Friday & Saturday 10-4pm
with Rachael South
Course Information
Over the two days of this course you will learn how to attach the rush, twist and wrap it round the frame to make a neat and even ‘arrowhead’ pattern.
You will be introduced to all the necessary materials, tools and techniques for weaving seats with rush.
You will also learn about preparing chairs / stools for the rush.
The stools and all materials will be provided. If you would like to receive your stool prior to the workshop to paint it then do let us know, otherwise they will be available in natural wood on the day.
Rachael South is a third generation chair caner and experienced teacher. She is also the author of a Chair Caning published by Crowood Press.
As with all our workshops, no prior experience is necessary, simply the desire to escape for a couple of days and create something wonderful!
Homemade and, where possible, locally sourced lunch and tea are included.
