During this one day workshop (10 am - 4 pm), Nicky Fuller, founder of Bache Mill Botanics will show you how to use fresh, Spring flowers, for botanical casting (bas relief).
You will learn the key principles of the process, including rolling out clay, designing and arranging fresh plant materials, mixing plaster, to create your own unique piece of wall art.
Once the plaster has set you will “reveal” the casting as the clay is carefully removed to uncover the finished impression. You will then sand your artwork and learn how to clean it, once it has fully dried
This is a hands-on activity that can be a little messy, so participants are advised to wear old clothes!
All materials and botanicals will be provided, although you are welcome to bring your own plants or flowers if you wish to include them in your design.
Each piece will have an integral hook for hanging on a wall, to create a small gallery of relief casts.
As with all our workshops, no previous experience is required.
Handmade and, where possible, locally sourced lunch and tea included.
